Elle magazine LIIAR analysis

Elle magazine.
L-language.The language used in the magazine is used to capture the attention of the reader.  In Elle magazine, the language used relates to the audience well by using smaller features such as ‘Style issue’ and ‘ideas to inspire you’.  All of these smaller features and words connote the type of issue which the magazine is advertising.  The way the main feature is also laid out includes the main image as part of the title, by including Jennifer Lopez on the main cover, next to the name of the magazine. 
I-Ideology.
The ideology of the magazine relates to the audience very well, because the target audience would be women, and because Jennifer Lopez is on the front representing this, it relates very well.
The colour scheme of the magazine is also grey, gold and black; which connotes glamour, and this is what the magazine is trying to achieve through the ideology. 
I-Institution.The publishers of Elle magazine achieve the ideology well by advertising certain issues of the magazine every so often, for example the issue that I am evaluating is the ‘personal style issue’.  Also, they achieve this by using the smaller features to catch the attention of the reader and make them want to read further into the magazine.  The word ‘You’ is often used, appealing to the audience because it gives a sense of realism that the publisher is talking to the reader, and involving them in the magazine.
A-Audience.
 The target audience of the magazine is women, and Elle achieve this very well by using a female model as the main image on the front of the magazine.  Also, the colour scheme is black, grey and gold which connotes glamour, which is generally associated with women.  Also, the smaller features used are mostly about style and fashion which appeals to the target audience- women.
R-Representation.
The magazine represents fashion and style in this certain issue, as the main feature and the skyline shows on the front cover.  The way in which the magazine represents what it is advertising is very well done, as it uses a range of media language devices such as skylines and main images to advertise it.
